BIG WATER ORGANICS

ABOUT US

THE TEAM

Margaret, a hippie mom of five, and Conor, a Colorado lawyer, began working together on a medical cannabis project four years ago. They bonded over their shared desire to create the first Florida-based female-owned cannabis company.

Despite many delays, the two knew that action and talent were the keys to success. Enter: Danny P, a cowboy outlaw, whose years of experience in both hemp and cannabis covering indoor, greenhouse and industrial outdoor cultivation was the final ingredient to launching Big Water Organics. The team was brought together by their shared love of soil and interest in cultivating a living soil system.

Since then, our mission remains the same—to create a memorable and organic hemp experience for our customers and to supply the Florida industrial hemp market with high-quality genetics and organic flower.

Margaret Duriez

Margaret was born in West Palm Beach growing up between Florida and on a family farm in Pennsylvania. After graduating from Columbia University, she lived in India, where she became a vegetarian, studied yoga and meditation. Her passion for organic food and sustainable living prompted her to start a family farm to supplement her families’ vegetarian lifestyle. With the help of a great team, Margaret grew the family farm into Lox Farms — an organic principles-based community supported agricultural provider with thousands of consumers in Palm Beach and Martin County. She has also operated a fermentation laboratory and conducted local farm-to-table operations.

Conor Filter

Conor is a graduate of the University of Denver Sturm College of Law, with a focus in corporate and environmental law. His law firm, Filter Law, LLC specializes in transactional law and the startup business cycle, from formation through sale. He currently owns multiple Colorado cannabis businesses and supervises licensing, compliance, accounting, administration, sales and marketing, and quality assurance. As founder of Colorado Sustainability Consultants, LLC, Conor has been lead drafter and project leader on successful medical cannabis license applications across the United States.

Danny Panochko

Danny P. has been head of cultivation for multiple industrial hemp operations in Colorado and Florida over the last six years. He has operated a 55-acre hemp farm in Western Colorado and is experienced in indoor, outdoor and hybrid greenhouse cultivation, including facility planning and operations, integrated pest management, and knowledge of natural/organic farming and nutrient feeding practices. He enjoys snowmobiling and his dogs when he is not managing operations for Big Water.

Carter Casad

Carter is a long-time cannabis breeder, researcher and activist with more than 12 years of experience in the medical and recreational cannabis markets. His passion for science, music and art have coalesced into opportunities ranging from working on university funded cannabis research to developing custom cannabis varieties for nationally touring musical acts.

After witnessing the healing potential of cannabis first hand, Carter developed a deeply rooted passion for it’s therapeutic use. This started him on a quest to develop cannabis varieties with unique cannabinoid profiles, and varieties that push the boundaries of cannabinoid production using traditional breeding techniques coupled with new insights from genomic research.

Moises Martinez

A native of Mexico and raised in Florida, Moises is our Cultivation Manager. He is a graduate of Palm Beach State College with a horticulture degree, and in his professional career has specialized in landscaping and IPM in tropical and subtropical areas. When he is not cultivating industrial hemp at the Big Water facility, he is spending time with his wife and 3 kids.
